Hot Rod Harmonicas

Hello out there!

Welcome to HotRodHarmonicas.com

This site is devoted to the noble art of Hot Rodding harmonicas, and breathing life into them and through them.

The video series “Hot Rod Your Harmonicas – The Movie” will be up soon here, for sale as DVDs and Downloads.

There will also be articles, videos, pictures, and audios. The goal is to see how far we can go to bring the harmonica into a new world of expression. This is an amazing time to be a harmonica player. The harmonica today is on the verge of transforming into a new instrument, really, a new family of instruments.

It is a bit like what was happening to the guitar in the late 1940s, with Leo Fender and Les Paul changing the guitar from a mostly accoustic instrument into the electric guitar.

Only the change going on with the harmonica is a combination of a new generation of harp techs and new designs meeting computer assisted design and small machine shops working on big ideas.

Stay tuned! It is going to be a wild ride…..

BTW – plenty of harp tech articles are at rsleigh.com

Love it! Thank you, Richard, for sharing your wealth of harp knowledge with the world. Because of you, I’ve learned a heck of a lot about hot rodding my own harps! Keep up the great work.

    Richard;

You are a true inspiration- i mean it. I only NOW find out about HHR? What did I do to be kept in the dark; LOL ?

YOU’RE TOO BRIGHT A SHINING STAR TO BE HIDDEN UNDER A BUSHEL BASKET. THANKS FOR ALL YOU do- and
    YES IM A TOOOL FREEEEEAK!

I finally have decided to plunge in. I have regrouped several U$ED Golden Melody’s- and recently discovered, at least in the context of my less than stellar harp past- I still have some chops. Repeat- COMPARATIVELY.

Lest you think I’m bragging- I was OUT ON THE SIDEWALK- ten feet tops away- huge opened French doors- but for a couple years- Pinetop Perkins tolerated me at Nuno’s on Sixth in Austin- & I could ALWAYS feel it when he sat down.

He’ has been promoted. What do I do now?

Problem is, though- similar to what Janis Jpolin quipped; I can’t play squat unless I can FEEEEL it somehow.

I’m under no delusions to become a pro- but would seem much more accommodating to be able to more readily CONTRIBUTE to those around me- as Corky Siegel does as his core crux- if I weren’t so stifled.

    Any ideas?

Awaiting moderation? I thought it was just to you- either is fine- maybe if you’d be kind enough to correct the SPELLING/ Punctiation??? … PineTop was not my personal bud- but he did allow me to play within earshot. That really helped- as did Mike- Nuno Sr.; and others to encouraged me during tough times.

Kindness is contagious, as you well know.
